Maurice S: What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of being related to fashion icon Tommy Hilfiger? Jaimie H: Being related to a fashion icon has never provided me with any advantages. I would have wanted to take this career path no matter what family I was born into or what my last name was. A big misconception about me is that my uncle has helped me achieve success within my career which is not true. I love my family and my uncle and I am very proud to be a part of The Hilfiger Family but everything that I have accomplished I have done myself with handwork and dedication to my craft. Maurice S: How has your uncle, Tommy Hilfiger, influenced and/or helped you in achieving your fame? Jaimie H: Everything that I have done in my career that has achieved me success and fame has been done by me with the help of my team, (agents, publicists, and managers). My uncle has never helped me in furthering my career in any way. We love each other as family should but we have never mixed work with family. Maurice S: You have attended some of the most prestige schools in US including Harvard, NYU, University of Central Florida for Broadcast Journalism, what made you change your mind and turn to modeling? Jaimie H: I think that it was important to have a strong education for a foundation no matter which career one decides to pursue. From a young age I knew that I wanted to be a model and to work in the entertainment and fashion industry but I knew that I wanted to attend and graduate from college first. No one could ever take away your education. It’s something that you always have to fall back on. College is also a great place to learn life skills that you will use throughout your years. Maurice S: Who inspired you to pursue your dream of modeling? Jaimie H: I never needed a role model to admire in order to pursue my dream of modeling. I knew that this was the career path that I wanted to take from a young age and that there was nothing else that I wanted to do. I had such a strong drive that I did not need anyone to inspire me. I do admire women like Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, and Kimora Lee Simmons and how they have expanded their empires outside the world of being just a model. The best thing about being in the fashion industry is that it is a career with many different facets which gives women so many opportunities to branch out and become involved in different aspects. Maurice S: What are the funniest experiences that you have experienced in modeling? Worst? Jaimie H: Luckily I’ve never had any bad experiences modeling because I have been smart enough to surround myself with professional people and not to take jobs that seem shady. Thankfully, I’ve had all positive experiences in modeling. My career has led me to many extraordinary, funny, and lovely experiences. There are just too many to mention! Maurice S: Who are some of the designers that inspire you and whose styles are you likely to incorporate in your work would like to emulate? Jaimie H: I have always been inspired by the designs of Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa. Their collections are always feminine with glamour elements added to every design. In the future when I am ready to start my own line I would love to emulate the same sense of femininity and luxury with adding my own personal touches. Maurice S: How do you feel about being called a Fashionista? Jaimie H: I am honored to be labeled a Fashionista. To me a Fashionista is a multi-talented woman in an ever-changing world. Young girls in today’s society look up to Fashionistas and I am proud to represent this title in a positive and healthy way. Maurice S: Do you see yourself as a future fashion force and do you like comparisons to Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton? Jaimie H: What I see in Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton that I admire is their staying power. Many times “of-the-minute” celebrities will try to get the most out of their 15 minutes of fame by creating a perfume, designing a clothing & shoe line, writing a book, etc. but then no one hears anything about them the following year. Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton have both remained relevant in our society for almost 10 years which is like an eternity in Hollywood. There are not many celebrities that you can think of who have endured the test of time. In the past I have been compared to both women and I feel that it is an honor. Of course we all make mistakes but these women have transitioned from their mistakes turning themselves into billion dollar empires. I find that very admirable.

Maurice S: What does your casual OOTD consist of? Jaimie H: Honestly I am never in casual attire. Whether it be loungewear, sleepwear, or a casual outfit I always incorporate elements of glamour and elegance into each look. A casual OOTD will typically consist of Chanel ballerina flats and an Alice & Olivia daytime dress (with an embellishment of course). Maurice S: What do you do for relaxation and enjoyment? Jaimie H: I love to travel and to see new and different parts of the world and of our beautiful country! I find it fascinating to escape to new surroundings and to learn about different parts of the world. When I need instant relaxation and I don’t have time to hop on plane, I love to shop. It relaxes me and takes my mind off whatever is stressing me. There is also so much enjoyment in finding new and fabulous clothing and accessories.
